Protection is key

Ensuring products reach the consumer in pristine condition continues to be the key concern for many Brands.  This means that maintaining the product’s quality throughout its shelf life is important and in some instances, shelf life expansion is desirable to prevent food waste.

For many foods and particularly dried foods, moisture ingress may be detrimental causing the product to lose its crispiness.  Other food ingredients are affected by oxygen ingress causing rancidity and flavour changes.  In both instances the packaging needs to have a barrier to water vapour and gases to prevent product deterioration.  In addition, delicate aromas need to be maintained within the pack and care must be taken to avoid migratory chemical contamination from mineral oils.
